Choice between Porcelain and Ceramic, which is better?

Porcelain and ceramic are made out of clay, sand, and water. For porcelain tiles, denser clay is used. The temperature is the same in the kiln fire i.e. 1400-1500 degrees. But there are many differences between the two tiles. Here are the differences mentioned below: 
Porcelain Tiles
  •          It is more durable and thus very much used in more traffic areas.
  •          It is less porous and makes it perfect for water prone areas like bathroom and kitchen.
  •          Clay used is dense and thus a beautiful tile is formed.
  •          Many digital designs are printed on it to give an attractive look.
  •          The tiles are cut perfectly and thus thin grout lines are allowed.
  •          Resale Value of building increases using this tile.
  •          The weight of this tile is more and thus shipment price rises.
  •         More brittle and thus it has to be cut carefully.
  •          It is costlier than ceramic tile


·         Professionals have to be hired for installation
Ceramic Tiles
  •          Cost is definitely lesser than porcelain tile
  •          It is not much brittle and thus easy to cut.
  •         It is best for residential and lesser traffic places.
  •          The weight is lesser than porcelain tiles
  •         It is more porous than porcelain
  •         It chips off easily and cracks are visible easily
  •         It does not tolerate extreme weather conditions.
Research thoroughly before deciding any of these as per your need. This investment is always for the long term.
